Not far from Smolensk, in the village of Flenovo, whose name comes from the folk version of the female name Faina (Flen), there is a wooden house decorated with carvings based on Russian epics and tales, built according to the project of SV Malyutin in 1901. This former manor of the Teneshevs is a kind of artistic center that has received European fame. Creative atmosphere attracted here many outstanding figures of Russian culture, such as: artists I.Ye. Repin, M.Vrubel, V.M. Vasnetsov, composer I.F. Stravinsky, Fyodor Shalyapin was here, a whole period in the life of this fairy-tale place is associated with the name of Nicholas Roerich ... And, passing by moss-grown mighty silent tree trunks, the quiet whisper of foliage and melodious singing of birds, through the breaking sun rays, involuntarily plunge into the era a hundred years ago ... And the old forest carefully preserves the memory of old times ..
