Description of the picture
In this painting I set a provocative task - to compose the canvas fragmentarily, i.e. not to tie it to the whole nature with a vase and draperies, but to cut it in a more modern style. Monet resorted to these techniques at the end of his career in his «Water Lilies» and lakes, where there is no generally accepted academic composition, and nature is depicted fragmentarily.
