Description of the picture

Barbarians - people who were foreigners to the ancient Greeks and then to the Romans, speaking a language they did not understand and alien to their culture. The word is of Greek and, apparently, of sound-suggestive origin. In modern times, barbarians began to denote a set of peoples who invaded the Roman Empire, taking advantage of its weakening, and founded on its territory independent states (kingdoms). In figurative meaning, barbarians are ignorant, rude, cruel people, destroyers of cultural values.
