Oasis
Description of the artwork
The sculptural composition is inspired by the aesthetics of the lifestyle of nomad people of the Middle East. Two Bedouins are depicted in their lengthy journey through a desert, at the moment when they stopped by a watering hole for a short rest and for replenishing their stock of water. Sand-colored onyx was chosen as a base for its imitating a muddy suspension of water and dusty desert sand. The architectural part of the idea implied the sculpture being the central composition of a fountain, where the camels would be fully enclosed in water - a contrast to their usual surroundings of endless sand and rocky landscapes.
The work is cast in bronze and is unique.
