Description of the artwork
Death, like Life and Birth, is an indispensable, integral component of the concept about destiny. Destiny connects the past and the future. It is a kind of mediator between them, as a way of realizing the divine in the human, as an earthly analog of the heavenly. At work, three thoughtful angels are depicted, personifying all three of these states, passing into each other - Death, Life and Birth. The angel of life observes the course of time, but does not interfere with it.
