If at an early stage of its development, approximately until the early 1950s, silk-screen printing was used mainly for industrial and commercial purposes, today it occupies a leading place among other methods of creating visual art. In the past century, silk-screen printing has gained considerable popularity and use not only as a method of making copies in applied art, industrial design, when creating facsimile reproductions or in the field of large printing, but also as one of the self-sufficient types of author's printed graphics — print, which has pronounced qualities and capabilities of its own plastic language.
