Autolithography

Autolithography (or “author's lithography”) is a lithographic technique that has become available through the discovery of stone’s chemical nature. The difference from the reproduction lithography, where the typographic plate from the original picture is made by printers, is that the artist himself draws or traces with a brush and pen directly on the lithographic stone. Appearing to replace wood engraving, autolithography is becoming a very widespread printing technique.
