Legend of the North
Description of the picture
This picture was painted at the All-Russian plein air from nature in the city of Kargopol. This is an ancient city of the Russian north. Near the city there are old villages, and near them in the field there are ancient wooden tent churches. They are very unusual and different from everyone else.
Tent temples are a special architectural type that arose and became widespread in ancient Russian temple architecture. Instead of a dome, the building of the hipped temple ends with a hipped roof. Tent temples are made of wood and stone. Stone hipped temples appeared in Russia at the beginning of the 16th century and have no analogues in the architecture of other countries.
Please note that there may be traces of ink on the back of the image. I hope you understand that the creation of a picture is a creative process, especially in the open air.
